Sea Turtles Nesting on U.S. West Coast

For the first time, olive ridley sea turtles have been spotted nesting on the beaches of Southern California. Normally, these turtles nest much farther south in countries like Mexico and Costa Rica. Scientists believe that the 'Super' El Niño may have influenced their unusual nesting behavior. This discovery is exciting for wildlife conservation efforts.
