Delete your account
Last updated 18 October 2026
1. Deleting from inside the app
- Sign in as the parent or guardian who owns the account.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
If you have set a parent PIN you will be asked for it. That is deliberate: without it a child using the app could delete the family's account and cancel its billing.
2. If you cannot sign in
Email kidsnewsapp@outlook.com from the address the account was created with, asking us to delete it. We will confirm once it is done. We may need to check that the request really comes from the account holder before we act on it.
3. What is deleted
- Your account and sign-in details, including the name, email address and profile image supplied by Google.
- Your child's profile and every parental setting: avatar, interests, allowed categories, daily time limit, external-link handling and the parent PIN.
- Reading history and bookmarks.
- Your subscription record, along with any referral code and referrals linked to it.
- Your newsletter subscription, if you had one.
- Push notification registrations.
- The record of which lifecycle emails we had sent you.
4. What is kept, and why
- Content reports, with your identity removed. If you reported a story as unsuitable, the report stays but is no longer linked to you. It is a safety record about an article that other children can still be shown, so deleting it would lose that signal.
- Payment records held by Stripe. Our payment processor retains invoices and transaction records it is required to keep for accounting and tax purposes. We never held your card details ourselves.
5. Your subscription
Deleting your account cancels your subscription immediately, so you will not be charged again. Cancelling ends access at once rather than at the end of the paid period, and we do not refund the remainder of a period automatically — if you have just been charged and want a refund, email us before deleting and we will sort it out.
