Terms of Use
Last updated 18 October 2026
1. Who these terms are for
These terms are an agreement between Kids News App ("we", "us") and the adult who creates the account ("you"). You must be at least 18. The app is meant to be used by children aged about 8 to 12 under your supervision. You are responsible for how children use your account and for the settings you choose. Please read these terms together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your family's information.
2. Your account
You sign in with Google. Keep that account secure: anyone who can use it can use your subscription and change your settings. Tell us promptly if you think your account has been misused.
3. Free trial, price and cancellation
- The service costs $7 per month (U.S. dollars), billed through Stripe.
- New accounts get a free trial, normally 7 days. Invitation links from friends, partners and testers may give a longer trial or free period, as shown when you accept the invitation. No card is needed to start a trial, and a trial never turns into a charge on its own.
- If you subscribe, your subscription renews every month until you cancel.
- Cancel anytime in Settings. You keep access until the end of the month you have paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- Deleting your account cancels the subscription immediately and ends access straight away.
- We may change the price, but never for a month you have already paid for, and we will email you in advance.
4. Refunds
Payments are generally non-refundable for months already started. If you were charged by mistake, or something went wrong, email kidsnewsapp@outlook.com within 14 days of the charge and we will put it right. This does not affect any rights you have under consumer law.
5. Referral credits and free access
- Free months earned by inviting friends are credited to your subscription. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and are capped at 12 months per year.
- Referral credits are for genuine recommendations. We may withhold or remove credits obtained through fake accounts, self-referral or other abuse.
- Tester access is free for the period we give you, which we may extend or end. When it ends, the normal subscription applies if you choose to subscribe.
- We may change or end the referral program, but credits already earned stay on your account.
6. About the stories
Stories are based on articles from established news publishers. They are rewritten into child-friendly summaries by artificial intelligence (AI) and filtered for suitability by automated checks. Each story credits and links to its original publisher. Those websites are not ours and we are not responsible for them.
- AI summaries can contain mistakes or leave out important detail. They are meant to inform and spark curiosity, not to be an authoritative record. For anything important, read the original.
- Real news sometimes covers hard topics such as storms, conflict or illness. We aim to present them calmly and leave out graphic detail, but children may still have questions, and we encourage talking them through together. The weekly parent report includes conversation starters for this.
- No filter is perfect. If a story seems unsuitable, use Report in the app and we will review it.
7. Parental controls
Topic restrictions, daily time limits, outside-link handling and the parent PIN are tools to help you supervise. They support your supervision; they don't replace it.
8. Acceptable use
Please don't resell, republish or redistribute the stories; scrape or copy the feed in bulk; try to break, overload or get around the app's security; share your account outside your household; or use the service for anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do.
9. Ownership and feedback
The app, its design and our rewritten stories belong to us. Original articles, names and logos belong to their publishers. If you send us ideas or feedback, for example as a tester, you allow us to use them to improve the service without owing you anything.
10. Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep the app running but can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change, add or remove features. If we close the service entirely we will give reasonable notice and refund any period paid for but not provided.
11. Ending the agreement
You can stop using the service, cancel, or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where the law requires.
12. Disclaimers and limits on liability
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the extent the law permits, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when. We will email you about significant changes before they take effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can cancel.
